Working under the leadership of the Sr. Director, Marketing and E-Commerce, the Manager, Marketing Communications provides strategic direction and support for all marketing communications projects in order to achieve the corporate, marketing and brand objectives. The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the annual marketing-communications plan and projects.
Responsibilities
- Primary responsibilities include managing the marketing-communications plan development and ensure integration of plans across departments (marketing, sales, e-commerce, merchandising, etc.):
- Develop mechanisms to embed strategic coherence in the ideation and implementation of the marketing communications strategy
- Develop and vet project and creative briefs
- Ensure consistency in communications architecture
- Lead the development, execution and management of marketing programs and initiatives
- Analyze and continually improve the effectiveness of all marketing communication campaigns through optimized media strategies and tactics.
- Define and lead innovation agenda
- Identify, implement and maintain controls to mitigate financial and operational risks. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
- Act as a subject-matter expert and consultant to business units. The candidate is required to develop strong, cross-functional, cooperative working relationships with other branches impacted by marketing communications and brand initiatives (Payload, Customer Relations, Product Management, Web Team, Premium Marketing Partnerships, Corporate Communications, Sales, etc.)
- Actively monitor market trends, competitor activities in their respective markets and the evolution of Air Canada Vacations products.
- Work closely with internal subject matter experts (E-commerce, Content and Social Marketing, Corporate Communications, Creative Studio, etc.), establish priorities of all tasks and allocate appropriate resources to maximize investments.
- Manage external service providers and agencies, overseeing projects, billing, contract negotiations, etc.
- Lead and implement process reengineering efforts.
- Ensure brand identity and guidelines are respected.
- Analyze and organize information for presentation purposes.
- Contribute to the achievement of corporate annual objectives and targets with integrity.
- As a member of the marketing leadership team, you will support the Sr. Director, Marketing and E-Commerce to meet strategic business needs by leading various company-wide initiatives as requested
Qualifications
- University degree in Business, Public Relations, Marketing or equivalent
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in the field of marketing and communications
- Strong proficiency in strategic and operational marketing communications planning
- Ability to manage a cross-functional team and make sound, strategic decisions and recommendations
- Comfortable working in a collaborative environment with bright, committed colleagues
- Proficiency in analytics and research
- Strong leadership, analysis and innovation skills
- Proficiency in media planning
- Practical knowledge of digital mediums including internet and social media channels
- Experience working with internal creative and production studios
- Comfort and ease with matrix organization
- Excellent interpersonal skills and aptitude to motivate and engage
- Can work in a very fast past environment
- Attention to detail and accuracy, high levels of ingenuity, creativity and initiative
- Bilingual – Fluent in both French and English
