Position Summary:
Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Marketing and Design, this position is responsible for providing marketing and technical design leadership to stakeholders across the organization, providing direction to graphic designers, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the team, maintaining the media asset libraries and creating a wide range of corporate design material, including photography and videography.
Key Accountabilities:
- Oversee the communications request intake process and serve as the primary point of contact for clients
- Review, triage and assign incoming projects
- Maintain the production schedule and ensure that graphic designers follow creative direction, departmental procedures and meet deadlines
- Review work for quality assurance purposes, ensuring that marketing goals and brand standards are met, and that the visual communication material is of a high-calibre and professional in nature
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to graphic designers
- Identify, implement and train designers on procedures to help streamline workflow processes
- Manage relationships between clients and vendors
- Oversee the organization of the media asset libraries, ensuring designers use it correctly and keep it up-to-date
- Meet with clients and communication advisors to review new project requirements
- Develop marketing plans, creative briefs and work-back schedules
- Make strategic and technical recommendations regarding project execution, reaching target audiences, messaging, production time, budgetary considerations, resource allocation and capacity
- Work with external vendors to obtain quotes and additional information as required
- If the project warrants out-sourcing, work with the client to help facilitate this process and provide guidance and oversite when necessary to ensure creative stays on-brand and within budget
- Responsible for internal and external graphic and digital design and layout, artwork, photography, videography and general coordination related to the production of communication materials and publications
- Ensure that all content accurately reflects and represents the Toronto Pearson brand, including look, feel, voice and tone
- Photography and videography of internal and external events for social media, promotion, and corporate record
- Respond to requests for the supply of images for corporate and personal use, including the media
- Assist in various media, community and employee relations activities and events
Qualifications:
- 4 year university degree (B.A. Hons) in Communications, Journalism or Marketing
- Diploma in Graphic Design (or equivalent work experience) and a strong corporate design portfolio
- Additional post-grad training in a related communications field is an asset
- Minimum 2 years’ work experience in marketing and communications, managing and developing corporate material
- Minimum 5 years’ work experience in graphic design within a corporate environment developing high-end, visual material for print and digital media channels
- Minimum 5 years’ work experience in post-production for print
- Minimum 5 years’ work experience in photography and videography, taking an idea from conception to final
- Experience writing, editing and designing corporate collateral, including multi-spread publications, marketing briefs and corporate reports
- Experience working on both Mac and PC platform is required
- Fluency in French (written and spoken) an asset
- Must be able to obtain and retain Transportation Security Clearance
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Advanced/Expert level proficiency in Adobe CC programs (i.e., InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Premiere Pro), coupled with extensive hands-on experience designing a wide range of corporate communications material for print and web.
- Strong proficiency in PowerPoint, Office, MS Project, Excel or similar software programs
- Proficiency using project management software is an asset
- A critical thinker who can provide guidance and help execute effective strategic marketing initiatives for a wide range of stakeholders
- Highly skilled at writing and editing marketing and communications material within a corporate work environment, including developing and executing strategic communication plans, marketing briefs and other communication material
- Experience coordinating projects within sales and marketing departments, media outlets and with external vendors
- Excellent grammatical skills and experience copy editing
- Experienced with client-relationship management, developing work-back schedules, overseeing production schedules, and developing and maintaining media asset repository systems for creative teams
- Highly organized individual who is able to keep track of multiple projects and deadlines effectively
- Highly skilled in the use of design and publication-based software in the production of corporate communications and marketing material
- Knowledge of project management/coordination and tracking, including understanding of the production process
- Adept with photography and videography including non‐linear editing
- Sound understanding of various social media tools, including Facebook, Instagram, Youtube and Twitter from a marketing perspective
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work with others from across the organization at various levels of seniority to help forge strong, positive working relationships
- Highly skilled at providing strategic marketing and design direction on communication projects
- Able to balance a heavy workload, multiple projects with short deadlines, and be able to prioritize activities and tasks
