We are currently hiring Fire Fighters to support our Emergency Response Team.
Description:
Reporting to the Fire Lieutenant, the successful candidates will perform as members of the airport firefighting team to ensure effective Emergency Response Services. Duties will include containing/extinguishing aircraft fires; structural fire response; rescue; motor vehicle collisions response; medical aid responses and performing other related duties in connection with airport and non-airport emergency situations (bomb threats, dangerous goods incidents, etc.) as directed by the supervisor. This position requires ongoing study of theory and practical Firefighting competencies and Emergency Medical Training. The successful candidates will also participate in the Airport Fire Prevention, Airport Emergency Planning, and Safety programs and will perform other duties as required. Overtime, shift and weekend work are required.

Special Requirements:
• NFPA 1001, Level II (or equivalent) or equivalent combination of education and experience is required; NFPA 1003 is considered an asset • Current Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) certification (or equivalent) is required; must be registered with the Alberta College of Paramedics (ACP)• Instructional experience is considered an asset• The successful candidates will have excellent interpersonal and team-building competencies within a multi-tasking, team environment; and excellent customer service skills are required• Effective verbal and written communication skills are required• Must demonstrate sound problem-solving and decision-making abilities.• Once qualified, will be required to act as an officer / crew supervisor at times.• Candidates will have proficient computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office 2007• Valid Alberta motor vehicle driver’s license (class 3) with air brake endorsement or equivalent is required• Please note: Candidates employed with other fire departments on a full-time basis with appropriate training and experience will be reviewed on an individual basis for compensation• Selected candidates will be required to participate in a written examination measuring interpersonal and judgment skills; testing is scheduled to take place on February 13, 2013at 6:00 p.m. • Successful completion of medical and physical task evaluations will be required • Must secure and maintain appropriate airport security clearance and acceptable criminal record check as conditions of employment• Other duties as required

Wage: $35.33 /hr to $39.20 /hr
