We are currently looking for a Duty Manager-System Operations Control Centre (SOCC) to add to our dynamic team.(Reference CJ698)
Located at the Halifax Stanfield International Airport and reporting to the Executive Vice President, Operations your responsibilities will include:
- Oversee and manage the company’s flight and ground operations while on duty by monitoring current and planned company operations; avoiding and minimizing irregular operations (IROPS); and coordinating the assignment of appropriate aircraft to flights.
- Supervise the System Operations Control Centre (SOCC) team personnel (Crew Scheduling, Dispatch, Maintenance Control, Commercial Operations) while on duty.
- Maximize fleet utilization by coordinating SOCC team activities on a day-to-day basis and during irregular operations.
- Proactively identify and develop strategies for IROPS recovery. Ensure suitable decisions are reached and actioned to regain the established operational plan during IROPS including authority to cancel a flight; amalgamate two or more flights; reroute a flight or delay a flight as necessary based on input from Dispatch, Crew Scheduling, Maintenance Control and Commercial Operations.
- Develop and maintain workflow and communication procedures for all teams working within the SOCC; and ensure communication and lines of authority are maintained particularly during IROPS.
- Ensure that required advisories regarding delays and IROPS are issued to appropriate groups and individuals.
- Liaison with Government and Airport Authorities pertaining to operational issues that occur while on shift.
- Ensure compliance with ALPA, CUPE and IAM labour agreements.
- Initiate the CanJet Airlines Emergency Response call out procedure when required.
- Produce and distribute reports regarding daily operations.
- Ensure the timely dissemination of pertinent information to all departments of aircraft changes, flight delays, cancellations and any such details that may affect the operation.
- Act as a liaison with Senior Leadership regarding operational updates.
- Other responsibilities as required or assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Minimum of two (2) years in an airline operations centre or 10 (ten) years in an operational role in a regional, mainline or charter airline environment.
- Strong working knowledge of CARs 705.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to cope with stress and time constraints.
- Above average time management skills for prioritizing workload; Strong analytical and decision-
- making skills; Successful applicant must be able to multi-task and shift priorities on a moment’s notice.
- Previous supervisory training and/or experience showing leadership ability and strong inter-personal skills.
- Previous experience with SABRE (Bornemann) and Navitaire systems would be an asset.
- Experience in a Unionized Environment an asset.
- Must be able to work rotating shift work, including nights, weekends and holidays. (Hours of work for this position are outside normal business hours)
- Bilingual language would be an asset (French and/or Spanish)
