Manager, Executive Communications
Greater Toronto Airports Authority - Toronto, ON
Reporting to the Associate Director, Communications, the incumbent will develop and execute internal and external communication plans and tactics that support the reputation of the GTAA and contribute significantly to the strategic planning of these activities.

Job Description
Key Accountabilities: 

  • Deliver communications associated with the CEO, including research for and writing of speeches, managing development of presentations, writing and managing briefing materials, managing and responding to media inquiries, contributing to employee communications and managing video production
  • Develop a program of strategic opportunities annually to support the company’s executive team
  • Ensure CEO and other executive events are leveraged across all audiences internally and externally to build brand awareness, enhance reputation and engage employees and key external stakeholders
  • Prepare briefing and messaging documents for speaking engagements, and communications activities
  • Engage with key stakeholders across the department and the organization as well as externally to align activities and maximize benefits for the organization
  • Manage integrated calendars, scheduling and timelines to consolidate all relevant information and maximize communications opportunities
  • Support CEO with responsibilities related to external industry associations, committees, memberships and philanthropic initiatives, etc.
  • Support executives at events and external activities
  • Design and implement processes to ensure internal stakeholders are informed and engaged efficiently
  • Develop and implement an internal and external social media plan for the CEO
  • Help anticipate and manage reputational risks, assisting with rapid and effective responses as required
  • Information available to this individual may be highly confidential and sensitive
  • Contribute to the success of the organization’s brand and communications goals
  • Build strong and trusting relationships with CEO and Executive Team including other internal/external stakeholders
  • Adept at creating and managing strategic communication programs and tactics to elevate the profile of the GTAA, CEO and Executive Team
  • Assess current executive communication structure - identify and implement improvements to process and methodology
  • Resolve reputational risk and provide rapid resolve to situations involving CEO and/or Executive Team that may not be anticipated
  • Other duties as required

Job Requirements
Qualifications 
  • University Degree/ Diploma in Communications or Public Relations or a similarly related field
  • Minimum 5-7 years of strategic communications advice and counsel at the executive level
  • A certificate in communications, public relations or journalism is preferred
  • Proven track record of writing speeches, opinion pieces, and other presentations for executive level or political clients
  • Must be able to obtain and retain a Transportation Security Clearance
  • Valid Driver’s license required
