Cargo Manager – Yellowknife

The Cargo Manager – Yellowknife reports to the Director, Airports & Cargo Operations,
West. This position is accountable to senior management for overseeing all facets of cargo operations for the Yellowknife and Kitikmeot region.


·         To actively participate in the Company’s Safety Management System program, including investigation and response, and to demonstrate knowledge of employee responsibilities regarding safety;
·         Provide leadership and overall management to Cargo Services focusing on highest level of customer service;
·         Ensure all cargo customer service agents have the knowledge, attitude and excellent customer service skills for success;
·         Ensure all cargo customer service agents are fully trained, briefed and compliant with all applicable regulatory and company requirements;
·         Ensure a clean safe and unobstructed work area is maintained and continuously practice proper safety habits;
·         Perform administrative and accounting duties related to payroll, cash management and cargo operations including ensuring adherence to cargo and company policies and procedures;
·         Provide local management and customer information reporting pertaining to local operation;
·         With direction of Director, Airports & Cargo Operations, West, establish the staffing plans, levels, and recruitment of cargo customer service agents at the local base;
·         Promote good customer and supplier relations and positive public relations within the community;
·         Respond to cargo customer comments relating to cargo issues in a timely and appropriate manner;
·         Assist in the development, delivery and adherence to departmental budgets as they pertain to cargo operations at the local and regional bases Other duties as required

Qualifications

·         Two - Three years of operational experience in an Air Cargo environment;
·         Previous experience in a supervisor or managerial role is a definite asset;
·         Strong ability to determine performance goals and ability to hold others accountable;
·         Demonstrate high degree of emotional maturity and ability to operate under stressful situations;
·         Ability to work flexible hours;
·         Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills;
·         Excellent planning, time management and organizational skills;
·         Ability to work in a team environment;
·         Demonstrated ability to adapt to a changing environment;
·         Knowledge of WHIMIS and Dangerous Goods Transportation guidelines and procedures considered an asset;
·         A strong background in PC skills;
·         Working knowledge of a unionized environment considered an asset
