The Winnipeg Airport Authority is currently recruiting a Permits Coordinator

  • Responsible for receiving internal and external (FAP) permit applications, conducting submittal reviews, coordinates departmental reviews, issues permit approval notifications, tracks work progress and maintain project files. Ensures work approved by permit is completed in accordance with WAA requirements, applicable Building codes and development standards;
  • Coordinates WAA involvement in municipal building permit and occupancy permit application processes;
  • Provides construction coordination assistance to tenants and external applicants. This involves meeting with tenants, tenant contractors to ensuring they are aware of the Airport rules and regulations, operational requirements, and site access requirements;

  • Monitor tenant construction and work progress, including monitoring of municipal building permit status for on airport works;
  • Ensures FAP close out submittals including as-built drawing records are received from applicants; and
  • Coordinates WAA underground utility locates requests.
  • College Diploma or Vocational school in a related field, such as construction management, architecture, drafting, building codes, book keeping or accounting;
  • Experience with commercial construction, facility management, building permits process, Building Codes, or AutoCAD drafting;
  • Experience leading a specialized program, coordinating activities, resources, equipment, and information;
  • Strong computer skills and experience using Document Management Software (Hummingbird DM), MS Office: (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, Power point) AutoCAD, and Adobe Pro;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and a willingness to work in a team setting;
  • Ability to manage time effectively; and
  • Knowledge of Transport Canada Aerodrome Standards (TP312), Airport operations and maintenance procedures will be considered an asset.

The Opportunity

Winnipeg Airports Authority Inc. has an opportunity for a Permits Coordinator within our Planning and Infrastructure Department. The department works include planning, development, implementation and management of airport infrastructure and tenant development projects. The Permits Coordinator position facilitates the WAA’s Facility Alteration Permit (FAP) program. Work will include coordination of WAA’s permit application and approval process.
