The Vancouver Airport Authority has a permanent, full-time opportunity for a Manager, Innovative Travel Solutions (Business Development).  Reporting to the Director, Innovative Travel Solutions, this diverse role will require an individual who is able to travel and has experience in aspects of business development and customer relationship management.  Innovative Travel Solutions is a business unit within Vancouver International Airport and is responsible for developing and delivering industry-leading travel technology that enhances the overall traveller experience and airport performance at YVR and at other airports around the world.   The successful candidate will be responsible for expanding sales to our current customers and introducing new products to existing and to new markets.  The successful candidate will also collaborate with the leadership team within the Innovative Travel Solutions group to ensure that the Authority’s values and guiding principles are demonstrated through sales, service, quality product development, delivery and support of all products.
 


Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and execute strategies to retain and expand existing customer bases and to attract new customers in new markets for a suite of existing and future ITS products and services
  • Provide support and guidance in crafting marketing and communication strategies that position ITS as the go-to brand and trusted partner for improving airport experiences
  • Oversee, and respond to RFPs in close collaboration with ITS management and Legal teams
  • Work with multiple government authorities to obtain business requirements and to manage a multi-functional team to provide tailored customer solutions
  • Provide updates to the Innovative Travel Solutions’ leadership team, and reporting on group and process performance against objectives
  • Representing Innovative Travel Solutions as industry leaders to customers and stakeholders through conference and speaking engagements and customer sales meetings
  • Project management support at various stages of the sales cycle
Key qualifications include:
  • At least five years’ managerial experience in a fast-paced IT, Business Development /Sales or Airport environment, supplemented by a university degree, preferably a Bachelor of Commerce, or equivalent
  • Excellent public speaking and presentation skills
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Experience in marketing and communications
  • Experience in project management is an asset
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence, strategize, and identify creative and innovative solutions that address and mitigate challenges
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Excellent storytelling, written and presentation skills.   Ability to speak in front of large audiences is an asset
  • Must be available to travel internationally up to 14 days a month which typically includes weekends.
